Comments and Reviews for Dowling's The Serengeti Plane
“So I read a chapter of the book! And holy crap you’re amazing! You are so very talented. I am not a huge reader of anything, but wow! I couldn’t stop reading! What I’m enjoying the most, I think, is the humour of the book: it’s great!”

“It’s good; it’s very good."

“I like the story and the characters (Dickie in particular!). There’s a good bit of banter in the dialogue...[and the] final chapter is genuinely moving in parts. It's quite clearly bonkers, but I think that's what you were aiming for. The imagery is free flowing too.”

“I found that the book looked promising as far as humor and political satire are concerned. The depth of description in every sentence of the book definitely made me interested enough to keep reading. The ending was my favorite part. I think that the prisoner is the most interesting character in this novel and would work well in dialogues with other characters earlier in the book. I’m interested to see who is swayed by the prisoner and who isn’t.
It was well-thought out as a book with its observances on characters. I think that the characters are the strength of this book. The characterizations and descriptions did that very well. However, it is difficult picturing animals doing very human things in my mind, but I guess that’s part of the comedy. The writing style is very good for visualization of the setting and characters.
